A former director praises an adults' social worker for supporting hundreds of colleagues through challenging casework and for an innovative approach to safeguarding adults

Our My Brilliant Colleague series invites you to celebrate anyone who has inspired you in your career. It is part of Community Care’s ongoing Choose Social Work campaign, which aims to champion the brilliant work social workers do every day and inspire the next generation of practitioners.

In this entry, former adults' services director Suzanne Wixey celebrates a former colleague and seasoned social worker for her commitment to safeguarding vulnerable adults.

[My colleague] has worked with professionalism and compassion to support vulnerable adults in need of protection for over twenty years.

She has inspired many professionals with her approach, supporting and training hundreds of health and social work staff faced with challenging casework.

Throughout her career, she has commanded respect from those she protects, generated admiration from colleagues, and continuously made a huge difference to many lives - as a professional and a co-worker.

She is innovative in her approach to safeguarding adults and passionate about working with practitioners to address abuse, ensuring everyone at risk is prioritised. On top of that, she always goes the extra mile to ensure practitioners are supported.

In the challenging environment of social work, she has remained an inspiration to every practitioner she's worked with.

Thank you for your dedication, professionalism and commitment to the profession and to safeguarding adults.
